Welcome to the Data Lab’s newly renovated website
The Childhood Cancer Data Lab is growing as a resource for pediatric cancer researchers and we have more to offer to our community now, than ever before. Transitioning to our new and improved website is an exciting milestone, and here, we look forward to sharing progress, introducing new initiatives, and cultivating more opportunities to support childhood cancer research. Welcome to our new virtual home!
Allow us to reintroduce ourselves
Hi! We are the Childhood Cancer Data Lab, established by Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation in 2017. We began as a small team with a big vision. In our early days, the Data Lab was focused on designing and developing our first home-grown project, refine.bio, which has since served thousands of researchers across the globe. That initial project is now just one of the Data Lab’s tools making data access faster and easier. So what else have we been up to? Explore our past, present, and future on our new website!
We have just launched our newest project, the Single-cell Pediatric Cancer Atlas (ScPCA). We worked with ALSF-funded investigators from eight different institutions to create an atlas of single-cell pediatric cancer data, and we built a portal to make it an open resource for discovery. Check out our recent blog post where we discuss all things ScPCA, including what you can do with single-cell data and how you can use our pipelines for your own analysis. All of our tools and resources built for childhood cancer researchers, like refine.bio and ScPCA, are easily accessible through the Projects section of our website. Have a look!
If you have been on this journey with us for a while, you may be familiar with longer-established initiatives like our data science training workshops. We have trained nearly 200 researchers on topics including the R programming language, bulk and single-cell RNA-Seq, and pathway analysis. Visit our revamped Workshop section where you can sign up to be notified about upcoming courses, view our current training modules, and learn how you can use our materials to teach your own workshop. We recently wrapped our first virtual single-cell training of the year, and have plans to introduce new topics like advanced single-cell and reproducible research in the near future. Subscribe to this blog to be alerted about future announcements.
Designed with service in mind
Our website is an important part of the supportive environment we maintain for childhood cancer researchers. We want to know how else we can be of service to you and we have provided ways for you to tell us!
Are you a researcher with a project that may benefit from the expertise of the Data Lab team? If you think we can help you advance your work and reach your goals, visit our Scientific Collaborations page and submit a request to work together. Whether you are interested in a collaboration, need a data scientist to consult on your project, or want to learn how to save time and increase efficiency in your research environment, we encourage you to reach out through our website. While you’re there, you can also join our mailing list for future office hours opportunities. Through office hours sessions, we will aim to learn about problems the research community is encountering and provide resources to help answer your scientific questions. More information about this service is coming soon!
Inspiring the support of generous donors is also part of our service to the pediatric cancer research community. Supporters make it possible for us to develop new tools, improve our existing resources, and connect childhood cancer researchers across the globe. Interested in learning more about Our Impact? Make your way to this brand new section of our website where we discuss the potential of big data, the impact of our work, and share opportunities to help us continue our mission. Do you know someone who may be interested in an opportunity to support the Childhood Cancer Data Lab? Direct them to our website! In the words of ALSF founder, Alex Scott, we believe “if we all work together, we can do it.”
On this blog, we share our expertise with the scientific community. You can expect to read technical content about our processes, information about our products and services, and much more. Subscribe here to receive updates!
